Philadelphia.  On Tuesday evening, the 12th of December, his
excellency the Minister of France, who embraces every
opportunity to manifest his respect to the worthies of
America, and politeness to its inhabitants, entertained his
excellency General Washington, and his lady, the lady of
General Greene, and a very polite circle of gentlemen and
ladies, with an elegant concert, in which the following
oratorio, composed and set to music by a gentleman whose
taste in the polite arts is well known, was introduced, and
afforded the most sensible pleasure.
THE TEMPLE OF MINERVA.  An oratorial entertainment.
Persons.  Minerva.  The Genius of France. The Genius of
America.  The High Priest of Minerva.
Scene 1.  In the temple of Minerva.  The doors of the
sanctuary shut.
Overture.  The Genius of France:  The Genius of America; and
the High Priest of Minerva.
Trio.  
Arise! arise! your voices raise,
And swell the solemn hymn of praise;
At great Minerva's awful shrine
Blow down, and own the pow'r divine.
